Description
Khasab is a port city on northern Oman’s Musandam Peninsula. Our city tour drive through the town of Khasab with its old and new souk and visit to Khasab Fort Known as Khasab Castle. The Portuguese built Khasab fort at the beginning of the 17th century is the main attraction in the city. Unlike many forts, which were built on high ground for defensive purposes. Khasab Fort has crenellated stone turrets, model wooden boats and a museum with handicrafts and Archaeological finds. The next is Bukha Fort, It is located in the tip portion of the Arabian Peninsula that reaches out toward Iran and the straight of Hormuz. The 25KM coastal road from Khasab to Bukha is thrilling and winding ride with sea to one side and blasted mountain on the other. While pass thru the village Al Harf, you will have a closer view to Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. This magnificent fort is in the most picturesque location – the sea is just in front of it in a perfect crescent bay while tall mountains rise precipitously just above. The fort was built in the 16th century by the Portuguese and changed many hands since then. There are two forts await your exploration here. The first, Al Qala’s Fort, actually lies in ruin; but you can still climb its imposing central tower to get a great view of the fort’s crumbling walls and the bay below. Nearby, you’ll find the better preserved Bukha Fort. Restored in 1990, Bukha Fort is possibly even older than Khasab Fort. Toward the end of our trip, you will visit the Wadi Qadah and the old village Tawi where you see Traditional stone houses, ancient rock carvings delineating camels, ships and warriors, said to be more than 2000 years old.Includes
